Six Things To Quit Right Now in order to Get Motivated for 2020…
Hello 2020!
FIRST, adjust your seat because we’re only 11 days in and I dont know about ya’ll, but a girl has been slacking! I know it’s only been a little over a week and everyone is entitled to take a few days off… but I’ve been lazy lazy…
This all stops NOW. Here are Six Things I will Quit doing today in order to #Make2020 Great!
(1) Stop Trying to please everyone - it bums me out when I let people down, miss events, or ignore phone calls. Even if it’s because I’m busy handling things for myself.
(2) Fearing change - I see change, I smell change, I’m confident I can change, yet I still fear it. Let me tell you… the leap of faith is REAL! You can have all the security in the world and your mind will still hold you back.
(3) Stop Living in the past - in the words of one of my favorite male groups - “it’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday”. No matter the year, that song is always so relevant and hits a nerve. Sometimes we can bring part of the past with us, and sometimes we have to let it go. In order to grab what’s in store for us, we need to free up a hand. We don’t have a free hand because we’re still holding onto the past (Amen).
(4) Putting yourself down - I feel like I’m doing exactly this by writing this blog post. People compliment me on how far I’ve come, and I counter their compliment by saying, “I could’ve been further along if I would have __________”. A win is still a win and no matter how small I need to celebrate them.
(5) Overthinking - a few days ago I shared a post on my Instagram that said… a video on YouTube titled how to open a zip file has over 400k views. Persistence over Perfection. I’ve held back on posting and publishing so many times because I felt things weren’t perfect. When I started blogging I hadn’t a clue about poses and stats and everything else, but I started and I ran with it. In time, practice will eventually make perfect.
(6) Comparing yourself to others - this is a tough one because in the influencing world there’s nothing but comparison. Sometimes the only way to learn is to observe others. You buy eBooks, you view stories, read blog posts, look for photographers that others have used, etc… There’s nothing wrong with finding inspiration, but don’t keep score. That’s where you get caught up. This is where you can become discouraged and your creativity can get trapped.
If any of this resonates with you, leave a comment below. If you’re ready to quit doing ALL of the above let me know.
Cheers to an amazing, prosperous, productive, and healthy 2020!
